News Round Up

I've been MIA.  You may or may not have noticed.  You also may or may not have noticed my blog was inactivated for a few days (due to a security breach I'd rather not get into).  BUT, I am back with explanations and various news :)

Ever hear of Magic the Gathering.  The dorky kid you know may have played it high school or junior high.  My husband was one of those kids and played until he was 15.  He is 25 now and we have had multiple boxes of these cards sitting in our garage for months now.  We planned to sell them; but, never got around to do it.  I finally decided we were going to do it.

For the past 2 weeks any, and almost all, free time has gone towards looking up the going price of these cards and figuring out how much his stash is worth.  When I finished Thursday we hit $2000.  We're hoping to get at least half of their worth out of them.  That's the big reason I've been MIA.

Squishy can sit up now

I've Got a New Toy! (and a cold)

I have been wanting a heart rate monitor forEVER.  Largely because I don't trust the calories the machines at the gym claim I burn.  Then I got pregnant and it didn't seem like the right time.

Well, I'm no longer pregnant.  I'm trying to work on my fitness.  I'm trying to lose weight and want to monitor my intake and exercise as precisely as possible.  So, it became time.

I ended up getting a Polar ft4.  I had read that it was easy to use and unlike some heart rate monitors it allows you to input your gender, weight, and height.

Setting a Healthy Example

When I first found out we were expecting a girl, I was shocked.  Both hubby and I had been sure we were having a boy.  I was of course excited; but, I also started thinking about all the things that come with being a girl.

One of the first things that came to mind is the body image issues many girls face.  Girls, from a very early age, are presented with images of how society thinks they should look.  Namely, thin and beautiful.  I can't change the images Squishy is presented with without sheltering her to a crazy person extent, so I made the decision early on that I wanted to set a good example for her.  A good example of how to take care of yourself and be happy with your body.

Here's the thing, I don't take good care of my body and I'm definitely not happy with it.
